Although Hodskinson was the surveyor of the Suffolk map he had other talents and was involved as engraver, surveyor and publisher in three other County Maps, those of Bedfordshire (1765), Yorkshire (1771) and Cumberland (1774).

He worked from premises in the Strand in London, very close to those of William Faden, the renowned cartographic publisher, who oversaw the publication of the Suffolk map.
